Business Meeting Minutes
August 18, 2005

Ponderosa S.A.G.E. Fellowship
Organizational/Business Meeting
Thursday, August 18, 2005

Call to order: 6:55 p.m.

Present: Kristi Frodesen, Pat Alice, Carol Stevens, Eric Pearson, Donna Mass, Sue Wilkin and Rev. David Phears.

Visioning: Rev. David led us in an opening prayer to begin our meeting.

Approval of Minutes: Sue Wilkin moved to approve the minutes of the June 16th meeting as they stand. Due to vacations, we did not have a meeting in July. Rev. David seconded the motion and the motion passed.

Treasurer’s Report: The balance in the PSF account is $2,969.74, which is made up of $2,064.58 from adult donations and $905.16 from youth. The minister’s salary has been paid through August, and the radio program is paid up through June. The reimbursement paid to Eric for the CD player was $306.19, of that amount, $54 was donated for that purpose. Part of the above-stated balance is comprised of ticket sales for the upcoming Casino night. Exact figures will be comprised for next month’s report.

Correspondence: The insurance for the next year is $1,025, with an option to purchase an extra $100 for terrorist insurance, as well as an option to make payments if we choose. We unanimously agreed to decline the terrorist insurance. Eric Pearson moved to pay the insurance all at once, instead of making payments, Donna Mass seconded the motion and the motion carried.

Old Business:

1 IRS Application form returned: Our application form was returned to us because we used an outdated form. The new form is much more complicated and Pat Alice is working on filling it out. Chioma Alozie will go over the form to check it once Pat has finished.

2 Counseling Center: Pat Alice reported that two clients terminated weekly counseling since the therapist they were seeing moved away. The use of the location of the High Desert Youth and Family Resource Center for the initial five sessions of therapy proved less than successful for several reasons. Therefore, Pat wrote a letter to Anthony Chambers at the HDFYC thanking them for letting us use their facilities for the time we needed them, and informing them that CCC will now be seeing clients at the Oasis Charter Academy on Wednesday evenings. During the month of July clients were seen at Pat’s home office. So far the CCC has brought in $230, with $21 due the HDFYC for their 15 percent.

3 Community Outreach: We will consider the payment of the Radio Show as our monthly community outreach once again. However, we are anxious to be able to return to our policy of sharing our prosperity by donating to worthy causes in our community.

4 SAGE Meeting for September: Donna Mass has a CD of the Dalla Lama speaking, which she suggested as the event for September. It will be held on Friday, 9/16/05, at 6:30 p.m. The location has yet to be determined but will be announced at church.

5 Rev. David’s salary revisited: As per our original agreement that we would raise Rev. David’s salary as funds became available, we discussed that feasibility now. Eric Pearson moved that we raise Rev. David’s salary to $1700 per pay period. Sue Wilkin seconded the motion, and it carried.

6 Affiliation with UCRS: Our current status with UCRS is that of a pre-church and we are listed in the Science of Mind Magazine. There was much discussion regarding the pros and cons of full affiliation with UCRS. At this point we have the freedom to allow our church to grow and develop as it will without the immediate need for full affiliation. We intend to do some further investigation but it was decided to remain as we are for now.

7 Status Report – Youth Church: The Youth Church is planning a special event on October 2nd for all of us. The Sunday school teachers as well as the children will be putting on the service, with Eric and Steve narrating. Listen to the announcements in upcoming weeks for details.

8 Western Casino Night: We left this for last since we had so much to discuss with the big event just one day away. Everyone has worked so hard to make this event a huge success and we are all so sure it will be. We went over our plans, handed out assignments for everyone, and said a treatment for success!

Our meeting was adjourned at 8:45 p.m. with a closing prayer by Rev. David.

Respectfully submitted by Carol Stevens
