Ponderosa S.A.G.E. Fellowship
Organizational/Business Meeting
Thursday, December 15, 2005
Call to order: 6:40 p.m.
Present: Pat Alice, Carol Stevens, Sue Wilkin, Michelle Phears, Delores Williams, Cheryl Colvin and Rev. David Phears.
Opening Prayer: Rev. David led us in prayer to establish an open consciousness.
Approval of Minutes: Rev. David moved to accept the minutes of the November 17th meeting as they stand. Sue Wilkin seconded the motion, and the motion passed.
Treasurers Report: The balance in the PSF account is $2,761.50, made up of $1,603.32 from adult donations and $1,158.18 from youth. The radio program is paid up through September and payment is due for October and November, $500 and $300 respectively. The rent is paid through December 2005. Rev. Davids salary will be paid through December on 12/18/05. Upcoming expenses include $100 to Oasis for extension of our rent in January and $200 down payment for our next casino night in March.
Correspondence: We gratefully received the grant check for the Community Counseling Center in the amount of $49,968.00. Sue Wilkin will open a separate account at a different bank for all purchases and expenses pertaining to CCC, which will assist in the necessary financial reporting due to the grantor. Pat Alice has been functioning as the executive director of CCC as well as the supervising counselor for the interns since inception, while at the same time looking for a replacement since she was employed with the County. She has since terminated her job with the County and has offered to remain in the role of executive director for the foreseeable future. In order to accommodate the new demands of the programs expansion, Pat has resigned as the CEO of the Ponderosa S.A.G.E. Those present representing the Board of Directors appointed Cheryl Colvin to step in as CEO, which will mean we wont have to change the address for all correspondence received for Ponderosa S.A.G.E. Rev. David moved we accept Pats resignation as well as Cheryls appointment, Carol seconded the motion, and it passed. We discussed three upcoming disbursements from these funds in January: Pats salary as supervising director; Carols commission as grant writer for the proposal; and two new doors for the High Desert Domestic Violence Center where CCC is presently operating.
We received the tax return forms for 2005, which will be turned over to Chioma for processing.
Old Business:
1. Luck of the Irish Casino Night: We intend to get busy in January of 2006 to get organized for this event. We will put a $200 down payment to secure the Percy Bakker Center for March 17th. We will get our committees headed up so that our members can choose in which area they would like to donate their time. We plan to generate some energy and enthusiasm around this event.
2. Update on Counseling Center: The Community Counseling Center has begun collaboration with the High Desert Domestic Violence Center on 7th Street in Victorville. CCC will utilize those facilities for its clients free of charge in exchange for providing service to some of their clients. CCC will pay for two doors to enclose rooms utilized for therapy, thereby insuring confidentiality.
3. Community Outreach: We will consider the radio show broadcast as our community outreach for December.
4. SAGE Meeting for January: Friday, 1/20/06 will be our SAGE meeting, program undetermined. Listen to the announcements for program information.
5. Christmas Celebration: Our Christmas celebration is scheduled for Friday, 12/23/05 at 7:00 p.m. We will be serving dessert refreshments afterwards.
6. Upcoming Move: While Oasis decided not to renew our lease for 2006, they did give us a one-month extension so that our last Sunday will be 1/29/06. We were offered the use of three rooms at the High Desert Youth and Family Resource Center on Village Street off Mohave in Victorville for $200 a month. We will also have a secure place in which to store our cabinets and supplies. We have tentatively decided to move part of our things over on 1/22/06 and the rest right after our last service on 1/29/06. Anyone wishing to offer assistance in the move would be greatly appreciated.
7. Reordering Financial Priorities: After a great deal of discussion, the members present agreed to institute a restricted account for the purpose of our own church home, either rented or purchased. We will start this in January 2006. We also determined to set aside a monthly amount equal to our outreach donation to the community to be deposited into this account.
8. New Years Day Services: We will have services on 1/1/06 for those who wish to attend.
NEW BUSINESS:
1. Millionaire Mind Kids: Najah and Khalil Williams, grandchildren of Delores Williams, made a presentation about an exciting new financial literacy program developed by Delores. They are offering a free introductory workshop on 3/18/06 at the new Hilton Gardens Inn to demonstrate their innovative and motivational techniques designed to broaden the participants knowledge and understanding of money in all aspects of his/her life. Those interested, please contact Delores Williams at (760) 240-4044.
Rev. David Phears adjourned our meeting at 8:30 p.m. with a closing prayer.
Respectfully submitted by Carol Stevens
