Ponderosa S.A.G.E. Fellowship
June 2005
by Carol Stevens

We Moved - First Sunday at new location.
Sunday, June 5th, found the congregation of the Ponderosa S.A.G.E. Fellowship at its new location, 11988 Hesperia Road in Hesperia. Our new church home is at the Oasis Charter Academy building, located one block east of Bear Valley Road, at the corner of Sequoia and Hesperia Road. This facility has a large seating area able to accommodate double or triple our current congregation, as well as smaller rooms for our youth church. We also have rooms allocated for our social hour after church.

This, our first Sunday, was a validation of how we are growing as a church. Our wonderful Angel Committee made phone calls to let our members and friends know when and where we were moving. We have also been advertising on our radio program on Sunday mornings and during the week. We had a wonderful turnout and had to add more chairs as people came in. Our potluck was even more bountiful and delicious than usual and we enjoyed our social time together after service.

I am always so amazed when I see how we as a fellowship operate. The countless tasks that need to be done in order for us to enjoy the inspiring message and loving fellowship we have all come to expect from the Ponderosa S.A.G.E. are accomplished with ease and grace by the positive energy of those present. We each do what we can do and it all gets done. While I am grateful for this new facility, I am even more grateful to be a part of such a dynamic and loving group of people. Why not invite someone you know to join us as we Choose To Thrive In 2005.

Western Casino Night – 2005 Fundraiser Friday, August 19, 2005, from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Percy Bakker Center in Hesperia is the date, time and place for our big fundraiser of the year. The Center is located on E Street near Main Street in Hesperia. We will have two crap tables, a roulette wheel, a wheel of fortune, and eight blackjack tables. We will also have wonderful raffle prizes, hot dogs and pizza, a no-host bar, and a dance floor with a DJ, for those who feel so inclined. Tickets go for $10, which includes $100 of “funny money” to gamble with. We are asking for 20 volunteer blackjack dealers to assist us for this evening. Training for those interested will be offered in late July. See Carol if you think you might be able to do this for two hours. Also, if you know of anyone who might donate a gift item, see Kristi. This event promises to be great fun so don’t miss out. See Kristi for tickets.
Be there or be square!

May Guest Speaker. We were blessed to have a return visit from one of our favorites, Rev. GMichael Smith. He practices what he preaches and teaches and has lost 140 pounds in a year. His loving and gentle message is always so moving and inspirational. If you missed it, see Carol to purchase a tape.

Update on Counseling Center. We are up and running with our first two clients on Wednesday evenings at the High Desert Youth and Family Services location in Victorville. We expect many more clients in the near future. If you know anyone who may be in need of counseling in any form, please see Pat Alice for a brochure outlining the details of the service.

Monthly Business Meetings are held the third Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the home of Cheryl Colvin and Pat Alice on Shenandoah in Apple Valley. The upcoming meeting date is 6/16/05 and you are encouraged to be there to participate in the ongoing business of this church. Check out the information table for the latest minutes.

Monthly get-together. Our last Texas Hold ‘em poker night was such a success that we decided to do it again. It will be held on Friday, 6/17/05, at Pat & Cheryl’s house in Apple Valley. It’s great fun, so bring a dish to share and your best poker face.

Rev. David’s first book, A Book Of Weeks 52 Gifts for Inner Transformation.
I love the way Rev. David has been using this book as a reference in his sermons. I find the acronyms so right on target to his topic that they help impress the principles of Science of Mind more clearly for me. If you haven’t purchased a copy yet, just ask Michelle and she’ll see that you get one.

T-Shirt Day – Super Sunday Don’t forget to wear your blue T-shirts on the last Sunday of each month and bring in your recyclables for Eric to turn in for cash for our youth. Cheryl Colvin still has many sizes left so check with her on Sunday to get yours. Children sizes $11; adult sizes $16.

Church Cookbook – I’m still looking for recipes. Just imagine how much fun it will be to look in a cookbook and know that you contributed one of your favorites to the mix. Just copy it down and stick it in your purse to give it to me on Sunday. My mouth is watering already!

What we offer:

Prayer Box – Look for the colorful square box on the back table if you would like to have Rev. David pray for you. The information slips of paper are inside.

Tapes – We have copies of previous Sunday services available on the table for a nominal love offering.

Science of Mind Magazines – We have a number of past issues of the magazine available on the counter for anyone who wishes to take them.

Personalized coffee mugs – You will see these sitting along the edge of the counter. See Carol if you would like one with your name - $5.

Angel Volunteers – We have people who can be called upon to make house calls or phone calls for any of our members who need or desire it. See Pat or Eric for a name.

Recycle Sunday – The last Sunday of the month we bring in our recyclables to Eric Pearson to take in to support our youth church.

This quote came from Deepak Chopra:

“Nature’s intelligence functions with effortless ease . . . with carefreeness, harmony, and love. And when we harness the forces of harmony, joy, and love, we create success and good fortune with effortless ease.”
