Ponderosa S.A.G.E. Fellowship
July 2005
by Carol Stevens
Settling in at our new location.
We have now spent a full month at our new location Oasis Charter Academy on the corner of Hesperia Road and Sequoia. We are tremendously grateful for this spacious and centrally located facility in which to hold our services. We are seeing a few new faces each Sunday and will undoubtedly see more as the word gets out. We are announcing our new location on our radio show each Sunday, as well as the word-of-mouth advertising we all do. We are still getting used to setting up and cleaning up after service. I want to take this opportunity to thank the many people who come early and just jump in and help out at whatever task needs doing. We couldnt operate without you.
Plans are in the making to beautify the space we use as a sanctuary by use of a backdrop behind the minister. If you have a talent in this area and would like to be of service, see Donna Mass.
Another item high on our agenda is to create a lively music department. We are visioning for musicians and singers who would like to share their talents on Sunday mornings. We know that a church with a strong music component adds a unique dimension to the service itself and draws people to it. We know that in the field of all possibilities the perfect person(s) with the talent to share is out there waiting to be brought together with the Ponderosa S.A.G.E. Fellowship. If you know someone who would just love to perform, please put him in touch with Eric, Pat or Carol.
Western Casino Night 2005 Fundraiser Friday, August 19, 2005, from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Percy Bakker Center in Hesperia is the date, time and place for our big fundraiser of the year. The Center is located on E Street near Main Street in Hesperia. We will have two crap tables, a roulette wheel, a wheel of fortune, and eight blackjack tables. We will also have wonderful raffle prizes, hot dogs and pizza, a no-host bar, and a dance floor with a DJ, for those who feel so inclined. Tickets go for $10, which includes $100 of funny money to gamble with. We are asking for 20 volunteer blackjack dealers to assist us for this evening. Blackjack Dealer Training will be offered on Friday, July 15, at the home of Carol Stevens. If you think you might be able to do this for two hours, see Carol. Also, if you know of anyone who might donate a gift item, see Kristi. This event promises to be great fun so dont miss out. See Kristi for tickets. Be there or be square!
June Guest Speaker
Rev. Debbie ODonnell was our guest speaker on June 26th. She is a new minister from the Carlsbad area and drove up here the night before with her husband. She gave us quite an interesting talk about gratitude for the little gifts we all have. You acknowledge it, you express it, and you share it.
Update on Counseling Center. The Counseling Center is now servicing clients each week on Wednesday evenings at the High Desert Youth and Family Resource Center in Victorville. Once we expand our clientele, we plan to see clients at the Oasis facility as well. If any of you know of someone who could benefit from low-cost counseling, please pick up a flyer on the information table.
Monthly Business Meetings are held the third Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the home of Cheryl Colvin and Pat Alice on Shenandoah in Apple Valley. The upcoming meeting date is 7/21/05 and you are encouraged to be there to participate in the ongoing business of this church. Check out the information table for the latest minutes.
Monthly get-together. This month we will use our get-together to train our blackjack dealers for the Western Casino Night event. Friday, July 15th, at 6:30 p.m. at the home of Carol Stevens in Spring Valley Lake. Bring a dish to share and e-mail Carol for directions cstevens1205@charter.net.
Rev. Davids first book, A Book Of Weeks 52 Gifts for Inner Transformation.
Week 27 is S.A.G.E. Spiritual Attainment, Growth and Enhancement. As you know, this is part of our name. Successful living comes from working through doubts, fears, uncertainties, memories of past failures and rumors of others failures. When we neutralize that kind of thinking, we open wide the doors for blessings to flow through us all.
T-Shirt Day Super Sunday Dont forget to wear your blue T-shirts on the last Sunday of each month and bring in your recyclables for Eric to turn in for cash for our youth. Cheryl Colvin still has many sizes left so check with her on Sunday to get yours. Children sizes $11; adult sizes $16.
Church Cookbook Im still looking for recipes. Just imagine how much fun it will be to look in a cookbook and know that you contributed one of your favorites to the mix. Just copy it down and stick it in your purse to give it to me on Sunday. My mouth is watering already!
What we offer:
Prayer Box Look for the colorful square box on the back table if you would like to have Rev. David pray for you. The information slips of paper are inside.
Tapes We have copies of previous Sunday services available on the table for a nominal love offering.
Science of Mind Magazines We have a number of past issues of the magazine available on the counter for anyone who wishes to take them.
Personalized coffee mugs You will see these sitting along the edge of the counter. See Carol if you would like one with your name - $5.
Angel Volunteers We have people who can be called upon to make house calls or phone calls for any of our members who need or desire it. See Pat or Eric for a name.
Recycle Sunday The last Sunday of the month we bring in our recyclables to Eric Pearson to take in to support our youth church.
This quote came from the Science of Mind Magazine, Monday, July 4th:
Today I call forth freedom from within my soul, I release all things holding me hostage and express the truth of my life.
