SEEKING BALANCE!
In addition to being a church family, we are all very busy people. We go to work, raise children, take vacations, and assist our church whenever we can. Sometimes busy people get so busy that their priorities shift without them realizing it. I believe that’s what has happened to us. Prior to our move in June, visioning for our church was a regular practice. The reason it is so central to our fellowship is that it brings us together to focus our attention on the inside where we find the Source of all possibility instead of on the outside effect that is often so demanding of our attention. It helps us clarify our intentions and move in that direction.

Many of us consider this church an extension of our family. We want it to thrive and prosper just as we do our own families. We generously give of our time, talent and treasure to see that it does. We believe this new location will eventually draw in more like-minded people who will enjoy learning the Truths we hear each Sunday. We have a few challenges that we as a group must address in the meantime. To that end, we are going to have a special visioning potluck meeting on Monday, 8/15/05, at 6:30 p.m. at the home of Rev. David and Michelle Phears. Please come and share your love and insights with us.

Casino Night – Our big 2005 fundraiser.
We have only one week before the big night, Friday, August 19th, between 6 and 10 p.m. at the Percy Bakker Center in Hesperia. I cannot stress the importance of our fellowship getting behind this venture to make it all that it can be. With each of us doing what we can to help, success is assured. We have advertised in several local papers as well as on the radio and several places of business. We are revving up for a big night, but we still need help to pull it all together:

We need more gifts to raffle off as prizes for the winners. Do you know anyone you could “hit up” to donate a gift card or gift?

We need everyone to buy their ticket and sell as many as they can.

We need baked goods donated by our members as part of the food we will be giving out. Albertson’s has already donated hot dogs and pizza.

We need help with setting up, giving out food, selling tickets, etc. See Kristi for your assignment.

We need to suit up and show up with a big smile on our faces and plan to have a great time!

We had our blackjack training night on July 15th and we all became familiar with the lingo and a little of what is expected from a dealer.

Plans are in the making to beautify the space we use as a sanctuary by use of a backdrop behind the minister. If you have a talent in this area and would like to be of service, see Donna Mass.

Another item high on our agenda is to create a lively music department. We know that a musical component will not only add so much to our service, but will draw others to us. We also know that in the field of all possibilities the perfect person(s) with the talent to share is out there waiting to be brought together with the Ponderosa S.A.G.E. Fellowship. If you know someone who would just love to perform, please put him in touch with Eric, Pat or Carol.
July Guest Speaker –

Mark Romero was our guest speaker on July 24th. He was a resounding success and tapes are now available for a love offering if you missed him.

Update on Counseling Center.
The Counseling Center is now servicing clients each week on Wednesday evenings at the Oasis facility. If any of you know someone who could benefit from low-cost counseling, please pick up a flyer on the information table.

Monthly Business Meetings are held the third Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the home of Cheryl Colvin and Pat Alice on Shenandoah in Apple Valley. The upcoming meeting date is 8/18/05 and you are encouraged to be there to participate in the ongoing business of this church.

Monthly get-together. This month we will use our Western Casino Night as the event. Friday, August 19, at 6 to 10 p.m. at the Percy Bakker Center in Hesperia at 9333 E Avenue, Hesperia, 1 block south of Main.

Rev. David’s first book, A Book Of Weeks 52 Gifts for Inner Transformation.
I just opened the book and came upon Week 13: FUN - Fully Understanding Now.
“This week: Look around your experience and ask yourself, ‘Couldn’t I use some fun in my life this week?’ If this is true for you, then put some F.U.N. into action – and enjoy the powerful process.”

T-Shirt Day – Super Sunday Don’t forget to wear your blue T-shirts on the last Sunday of each month. Cheryl Colvin still has many sizes left so check with her on Sunday to get yours. Children sizes $11; adult sizes $16.

Church Cookbook – This project is on hold for the time being. We’ll go forward again in the fall.

What we offer:

Prayer Box – Look for the colorful square box on the back table if you would like to have Rev. David pray for you. The information slips of paper are inside.

Tapes – We have copies of previous Sunday services available on the table for a nominal love offering.

Science of Mind Magazines – We have a number of past issues of the magazine available on the counter for anyone who wishes to take them.

Personalized coffee mugs –See Carol if you would like one with your name - $5.

Angel Volunteers – These are the folks who personally call you to keep you informed of upcoming events. We are so grateful to them for being our conduit.

Recycle Sunday – The last Sunday of the month bring in your recyclables to Eric Pearson to take in to support our youth church.
