December 2005

WERE MOVING AGAIN!
If you were at church on 11/27/05, you heard the news: Oasis Charter Academy has determined that it is no longer in their best interest to share their facility with anyone outside of their own program. Our rent is paid up until the end of the year. We have requested an additional two months within which to find a new meeting place, and as of this writing, we are still waiting to hear back from them.
When I heard this news, my emotions ran the gamut from shock to disbelief to sadness and maybe even a little anger. Then after speaking with Rev. David, I settled down to take another look at the situation. Every thing that seems to happen to us is for our growth, even when we cant see it at the moment. Rev. David reminded me that each and every time we have done a visioning for our church, those who shared what came to them during the process all spoke of a place of our own. While there are some small differences, we all want close to the same thing in that place: centrally located, lots of parking, room for kids, and affordable.
How can I help, you ask? First and foremost, trust that there is a power in the universe that is greater than us that we can use. We use this power by knowing that in the field of all possibilities there is a perfect place for the Ponderosa SAGE partners that will meet all of our needs. Also, continue to support the church by your attendance and tithe. At the same time, we can move our feet while we pray by being aware of any possibility that we hear about for a church home and following up on it. Join us at the business meeting and share your ideas.
I am so grateful for those who stayed last Sunday to discuss our options. It showed a real dedication to do whatever it takes to find us a new place to meet. It will take commitment and energy to bring this about, but mostly what it will take is faith that God has a plan for us. Those of us who call the Ponderosa SAGE their church home are drawn to it because of the teaching and the fellowship. We share a closeness that is rare, and will be further reinforced by our joint effort to secure our next church home. Lets all work together to find a place of our own that meets our needs for a very long time.
CCC AWARDED GRANT FUNDS FOR 2006.
Isnt timing funny? At almost the same time we learned the sad news of our impending move, we were given the good news of the $49 K grant award made to our own Community Counseling Center. The proposal was the joint endeavor of Pal Alice and Carol Stevens. CCC has been operating with no budget for several months and making slow but steady progress. Now with these funds, in 2006 CCC will be able to move forward to reach out to the community on a much wider scale to meet their needs. While this money does not directly benefit the church immediately, we are confident that it will in the long run, because what benefits one arm of our church will benefit the other.
CHRISTMAS SERVICE
Our Christmas service will be held Friday, 12/23/05 at 7:00 p.m. at the Oasis facility. Bring your friends and family to share this special time with us. Join us after the service for refreshments and wishing each other a wonderful holiday season.
ECKHART TOLLE STUDY GROUP
As part of my own healing process, I found this passage in the new Eckhart Tolle book, A New Earth, to be of benefit to me. Id like to share it with you. To be in alignment with what is means to be in a relationship of inner nonresistance with what happens. It means not to label it as good or bad, but to let it be. Does this mean you can no longer take action to bring about change in your life? On the contrary. When the basis for your actions is inner alignment with the present moment, your actions become empowered by the intelligence of Life itself.
If you resonate with the above quote and are available the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month at 10:00 a.m., join us for a study of this important new work. See Carol for details.
Monthly Business Meetings are held the third Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the home of Cheryl Colvin and Pat Alice on Shenandoah in Apple Valley. The upcoming meeting date is 12/15/05 and you are encouraged to be there to participate in the ongoing business of this church. If you cannot attend but have an item you would like to see addressed at the meeting, see Eric or Pat and let them know. An example of this is our own Doris Engelhaupt brought the suggestion to the board that we have a morning meditation and now we have one.
Monthly get-together. We have scheduled another poker fun night at the home of Pat Alice and Cheryl Colvin on Friday 12/16/05. Bring a dish to share and join the fun.
