UPDATE ON OUR UPCOMING MOVE
January 29th will be our final church service at Oasis Charter Academy. On Sunday, January 29th right after service, we will begin our move to the new facility at High Desert Youth Center on Village Street in Victorville. Anyone wishing to lend a hand would be greatly appreciated.

This moving process is a real opportunity for each of us to confront what we really believe about our church home. Is it a place we go each Sunday to gain perspective and strength to meet the coming week’s challenges? What do we really value about our church experience? Is it the message, the minister, the meditation or maybe the fellowship after service? Is it some of each? What do we believe this lack of a permanent church home says about us as a church family? Confront and ponder these and any other questions that arise in you during this period of time and know that there is some-thing even greater going on here.

I know that many of you are getting tired of this moving around, but I ask you to bear with us and know that even amid this apparent chaos, we are learning lessons and growing as a church family. There is something very spiritual that connects a group of people as they struggle together in a cause that they believe is greater than the sum of its parts. The Ponderosa S.A.G.E. Fellowship is that cause. Those of us who are committed to its support feel drawn to it because we believe it is destined to be a vehicle for the betterment of our whole community. Let’s hang in there and do everything we can to assure a smooth transition to our new church home.

THE COMMUNITY COUNSELING CENTER BEGINS ITS EXPANSION Having received its grant award, CCC will push forward this month to make its presence known in the community. There are plans in the works for newspaper articles and radio commercials to announce CCC’s readiness to serve the public. CCC has begun a mutually beneficial collaboration with the High Desert Domestic Violence Center in Victorville in which CCC offers its services to the victims and family members in exchange for use of their facility to service its own clients. If you know of someone who can benefit from this low-cost counseling, please contact Pat Alice for more information. You will find flyers on the information table.

CHRISTMAS SERVICE
Once again, our own Michelle Phears put together a very special Christmas Service for the members of our fellowship. There was singing, dancing, reading, eating, and a beautiful meditation that uplifted us all to the real meaning of this season. Michelle was asked to volunteer her services at the December business meeting and she agreed. However, the week before our service Michelle’s sister made her transition and the funeral services were the very day of our service. For many people this would have been a justifiable reason to bow out and ask someone else to head up the program. Not for Michelle Phears. She received assistance from some of our members and continued on with her plans for a spectacular Christmas Service. Speaking for myself, this was one of the most moving Christmas Services I have ever attended, made even more so by her dedication to our church. Thank you, Michelle.

ECKHART TOLLE STUDY GROUP
I’d like to share another quote from Eckhart Tolle’s book, A New Earth. “The joy of Being, which is the only true happiness, cannot come to you through any form, possession, achievement, person or event – through anything that happens. That joy cannot come to you – ever. It emanates from the formless dimension within you, from consciousness itself and thus is one with who you are.”

If you resonate with the above quote and are available the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month at 10:00 a.m., join us for a study of this important new work. See Carol for details.

Monthly Business Meetings are held the third Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the home of Cheryl Colvin and Pat Alice on Shenandoah in Apple Valley. The upcoming meeting date is 1/19/06 and you are encouraged to be there to participate in the ongoing business of this church. If you cannot attend but have an item you would like to see addressed at the meeting, see Eric or Pat and let them know. We will see that it is put on the agenda and discussed. For example, at last month’s meeting we decided to start a restricted account for the sole purpose of our future permanent church home. This means that if you decide to donate funds for that purpose, it will be set aside and used only for that. This would include renting, leasing or buying. We believe that by having this restricted fund, we are putting ourselves in the position to be ready when the right place is brought into our experience.

Monthly get-together. We will be having our monthly social night on Friday, January 20, 2006. Listen to the announcements for the details.

Casino Night – 2006:
As you know, this year’s casino night will be held on Friday, March 17, 2006, which is St. Patrick’s Day. We will be turning up the heat on our plans to make this a wonderfully successful event. We will need the participation of all of you to do this. Please volunteer some of your time and energy and see how much fun you’ll have being a part of this fundraiser. We have signup sheets on the information table. Check it out!
